About Gundagai
Gundagai, forever associated with Australian folklore, is situated on the Murrumbidgee River at the foot of Mt Parnassus. Perhaps more than any other town, Gundagai has proved an irresistible subject with writers of popular verse. This perhaps relates to Five Mile Creek, which was a popular meeting place with drovers, shearers and bush travellers. The famous bronze sculpture of the 'Dog on the Tuckerbox' is located eight kilometers north of the town on the western side of the Hume Highway.
