Old Hobart Town Model Village

Old Hobart Town is a miniature replica of Hobart in the 1820’s positioned in the suburb of Richmond. The town model offers a unique and interesting glimpse into the early history of both Australia and Tasmania, disclosing facts and stories about the notorious convict past. Designed and built from actual historical plans, the model village is an accurate representation of Hobart would have looked in the early 1800’s. It shows how the early town differs considerably from the modern city we know now, yet recognisable features and buildings can still be seen. There is also a gift shop on premises, so why not take a little bit of Old Hobart home with you.
