Now known as "Hunter Valley Zoo", this is a lovely little animal park which features many native animals as well as several varieties of monkeys, and farm animals.
It has barbeque facilities and lots of picnic tables available for visitors to enjoy their lunch. There is a gift shop which sells packets of chips and drinks, but no catering for lunches so it's essential to bring your own.
The staff are friendly, well spoken and helpful, and they have regular animal feeding shows throughout the day. The facilities are clean and well maintained.
Animals are brought out and visitors are allowed to pat snakes, wombats, koalas, alligators and kangaroos. The highlight for many children and adults alike, is feeding the birds in the bird aviary. Friendly rainbow lorikeets and scaley breasted lorikeets will happily say hello and have a snack from little icecream cones full of seed, available at the shop for 50c each.
If you want to visit a friendly little animal park, at a reasonable cost then this is the place to visit. Their new website is www.huntervalleyzoo.com.au
Our family had a great day there and would highly recommend it.
