About Whale Watching
Home to some of Australia's most famous waters, Hervey Bay is prime whale watching territory. Beginning in July each year, the humpback whales start their migration north, taking a stopover in Hervey Bay before heading to Antarctica. Sheltered waters make the bay an excellent area to view the whales in action, where they are more than happy to put on a show, flip in the water and even come up close to the boat to say hello. The calm waters of Hervey Bay make for a leisurely cruise, with many operators offering both full and half day whale watching options. If you're lucky, you may even get to see Migaloo, the famed white whale.
