About Windjana Gorge National Park
Carved by the Lennard River from a limestone range, Windjana Gorge is where you will find some of the best preserved fossil reefs in the world. Said by geologists to have formed a massive barrier reef 300 million years ago, the limestone range of Windjana Gorge is rich in fossilized history, found in the walls and caves of the Gorge. For some live animal action, the Gorge is also home to a myriad of freshwater crocodiles, with some tourists known to brave the waters for a dip in the early dry season.
