What an amazing little gem! Found this on the guide but didn't know what to expect as there was not much info or pictures. So glad we decided to give this place a go. Beautiful restaurant and grounds with a huge garden the kitchen uses to grow most of their ingredients, even the beautiful edible flowers! The best part was we were able to bring our puppy and sit up on the veranda to enjoy the view! Great staff, great food, great venue!
We had our wedding at Mavis’s Kitchen October 2014. The venue was breathtaking, with stunning views of Mount Warning and beautiful photo opportunities. The locally sourced food was delicious and well-presented and we had our cake made by Mavis’s Kitchen which was a beautiful chocolate mud cake. HOWEVER, unless you have a lot of free time for wedding planning, creating decorations and plenty of helpers on the day, we would highly recommend hiring a wedding planner with staff for the lead up and to assist on the day - organisation is not a strong point for this venue. The venue lacks the service of an organiser and is closed Monday-Wednesday, so communication is difficult. Even though we had paid extra to have a staff member assist on the day, staff were not available so my husband and family were setting up the ceremony chairs etc on our wedding morning. As the venue is also a restaurant, service still runs throughout the wedding day and you are not able to set up the day before. Mavis’s Kitchen provide, a venue, food, accommodation and drinks, the rest is up to you, so don’t make the same mistake as we did and assume that you will get assistance. If you organise that, the day should go down without a problem!
Had lunch here on the way back to the GC airport after staying in Byron Bay. The setting, food and service were unforgettable! Such a beautiful place, especially for lunch. Enjoyed wandering in the grounds and the herb garden, easy to see why the food tastes so delicious, fresh ingredients straight from their own backyard! Highly recommended!
Gorgeous Location, restaurant is an old queenslander with a beautiful wrap around verandah. I had the herb encrusted salmon which was impeccably cooked and delicious. They grow a lot of their own produce and the desserts are to die for.
