our local pub and restaurant was spoiled by a grumpy and rude manager. after arriving on a Wednesday night to a half full restaurant and told "in future we should ring ahead and book, we where shown to our table for 5. We ordered pre- dinner drinks , but only after we asked for them, nothing offered then ordered some entrees , whilst our guests decided on their mains. As entree arrived mixed dips and grisini ( no description of what the dips were was offered ) and the grisini too narrow to actually pick the dips up with we had to order more. when the mains arrived , the order was incorrect, I had ordered fettuccine gambarie ,but was given bosciola, which was what my son had ordered , he had already been given his main. However , when I said it was incorrect , the manager came over and said " you did order the bosciola , sir " , when I stated I hadn't I was told " maybe next time I should speak a little louder and say the one with the prawns ". I'm not sure how long this manager has been running a restaurant but I have been eating in hundreds of restaurants over the past 30 years of my working life and have never had issues with waiters or managers before. I think a good professional manager would read back the order given to check they have it correct, this would have saved time and discomfort for all those at the table who had herd me order the gambarie. So sorry that is one local restaurant off our list until new management is put in place.
