About The Fryer of Whitby

Pay a visit to the ‘Home of the Hand Cut Chip’ on the Sunshine Coast, The Fryer of Whitby, at the Brightwater Market Place in Mountain Creek. Frequented by loyal locals, this family run business offers a friendly nostalgia, combining the laidback vibe of coastal living with classic British touches, from blue, red and white décor to wall size landscape photography. Featuring North Atlantic seafood, The Fryer of Whitby fries fish and chips the way it used to be, basted in a light golden batter with chips fresh cut every day from locally sourced potatoes, then twice cooked for a satisfyingly crunchy texture and full flavour. Opt for favourites like Haddock with a side of chips, deviate with housemade pastries or delve into classic Scottish fare such as haggis and black and white pudding.

Well worth detour. Glad we found this little gem best fish and chips in on the east coast. Will be back.

If you love the proper English chippy, this is the place to go. All the traditional faves. Not as cheap as the chippies in England, but the quality is second to none. Never had a bad chippy dinner, and we eat there a lot. 9.5 out of 10.
