For the last 119 years, attending the Australian Open has been the highlight of many Aussies’ sporting calendar, certainly many Melburnians.
What is January in the heart of Melbourne, without the large screens streaming all the biggest matches right there at Federation Square or around the many parks and gardens dotting the city?
While Rod Laver Arena, John Cain Arena and the recently refurbished Margaret Court Arena are the places you want to be to see the action live, it’s a combination of the actual matches plus the festive feel of the grounds, the crowds, the energy and the sponsors all around that make the Australian Open so much fun year upon year.
Picking up on the Summer vibes and good times that abound, is Italian Aperol! Announcing a new four-year partnership with Tennis Australia, the iconic drink of the Summer, Aperol Spritz will be returning to the Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart Internationals and finishing with the Australian Open.
Simon Durrant, Managing Director – Australia at Campari Group, says: "The Australian Open is the biggest event in the Australian Summer calendar and with Aperol Spritz being the drink of the Summer, this is the perfect partnership. Boasting one of the biggest sporting crowds in the nation, we are excited to spread the Aperol joy across a terrific Summer of tennis.”
Just last year the event received 902,000 visitors making it the highest-attended Grand Slam event out of the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
Simon adds that Aperol will be activating several bars on the grounds at the Grand Slam of the Asia-Pacific.
"We are excited to welcome tennis fans at the Australian Open to our bespoke bar, Terrazza Aperol, to experience Summer in true Italian style. In what promises to be a lot of fun for tennis fans, Aperol Spritz will also be available throughout the many bars across Melbourne Park,” he says.
Terrazza Aperol launches at the Australian Open:
At the Australian Open, fans will be able to enjoy an Aperol Spritz at Terrazza Aperol on Grand Slam Oval. Boasting a beautiful bespoke 15-metre-long bar, bean bags, lounges and an elevated cabana experience, tennis fans can also indulge in Italian aperitivo with a bespoke aperitivo box.
Fans will also have the chance to sample an Aperol Spritz at several bars and restaurants across the Melbourne Park precinct, including the sleek new Bar Atrium with breathtaking views of the Melbourne city skyline.
