Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!
You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.
What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant. Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.
Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.
Located in the heart of Cheltenham, Naked Racer Bar Café on Grange Road offers a culinary pit stop that has undoubtedly become a hotspot with locals and visitors alike. Found inside Antique Motorcycles, Naked Racer seamlessly translates into a versatile event space playing host to a diverse range of entertainment, bursting at the seams with live music and dinner in rustic surrounds of bikes hanging from the ceiling, comfy couches and motorcycle memorabilia.
Mixologist Barry Lee serves up a cocktail that you won’t be able to find anywhere else – the Barry Manilow.
The venue’s owner, John, was craving a milkshake, but wanted it alcoholic so he asked Barry to make him something close to that and this is the drink that was created.
There are a lot of ingredients in this cocktail, but for those who have a sweet tooth it definitely hits the spot with butterscotch Schnapps, vanilla syrup, Amaretto, Baileys, Frangelico and vodka.
Initially, the drink didn’t have a name and staff would just call it The Barry – however as the owner’s friends started ordering it, the cocktail needed a moniker and the Barry Manilow was born.
