Cocktail of the Week from The Winery Kitchen

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

Espousing a paddock-to-plate philosophy in Seymour is The Winery Kitchen. Located only an hour from Melbourne and tucked into Seymour’s picturesque Somerset Crossing Vineyard, this family-run restaurant, winery and farm has quickly become a gourmet destination, attracting foodies from all over.

Cocktail of the Week from The Winery Kitchen

Don’t go past the Milano Sour cocktail to get the party started…this drink is a little bit bitter and a little bit sweet as well as some amazing citrus notes that freshen up your palate. As The Winery Kitchen is a modern Italian restaurant, we picked Campari as the base for this cocktail to follow our heritage.

Our Head Chef is from Sicily and we wanted to celebrate citrus as it is the main export of the island.

Did you know Campari was invented in Milan in 1860? It is one of the oldest spirits that hasn’t had a recipe change since its invention; 1920 saw the classic Negroni and Americano invented and we wanted to celebrate such a massively historical spirit.

The cocktail’s name came from the city of Milan, where Campari was first created, and the drink is in a sour style with citrus and wonder foam which means everyone can enjoy it.
