Howl You Doin’? 5 Dog-friendly Venues for a Pawsome Good Time

You know the drill…it’s time for Sunday brunch and your furry friend is giving you the evil eye knowing you are heading off for foodie fun.

Don’t despair, there are plenty of dog-friendly venues where you can say bone appetit to not only your own hunger but also your pooch’s.

Here are five of our faves for a pawsome good time:

Fur Babies Always Welcome

Wholesome rustic South Asian fare and cheeky cocktails bring Fortitude Valley diners through the doors of Stone & Copper on Brunswick Street. A chic vibe of Edison bulb lighting, black subway tiles and vibrant yellow cushions set the scene for a culinary journey through India, Malaysia and Thailand; or unwind over a drink on a stool at the neon-lit bar, as Brisbane’s entertainment and dining precinct buzzes at night.

Bring your fur baby for a lunch date with friends and pair a cold glass of white wine with dishes such as pan-seared masala scallops with cumin, fennel, turmeric and pepper, followed by beef rendang with coconut, fresh turmeric, lemongrass, chilli and sides of steamed jasmine rice and papadums.

Bring Your Pup to Meet Banksy

Soak up the iconic Gold Coast lifestyle while brunching with style at Banksy Bar & Kitchen on Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach. This new addition to the local dining scene boasts a modern industrial-style vibe with plenty of alfresco seating for enjoying the sun while sipping a Quest Coffee Roasters brew and spoiling the owners’ Viszla pup, Banksy whom the café is named after.

With a focus on sustainability, brunch has never tasted this good – think prosciutto and asparagus toast with basil cream, roasted honey macadamias, fresh dill, citrus zest and herb oil on sourdough; or Banksy’s big breakfast of chorizo, free-range eggs, slow-roasted tomatoes, garlic mushrooms, halloumi and sourdough.

Come in for a Puppuccino

Coffee and café fare to entice all taste buds is what Brighton diners find at Olie & Ari on Were Street. An industrial-style fit-out with exposed brick walls, caged pendent lighting and a cosy courtyard combine to have locals coming back time and again for creative brunch and lunch dishes.

Stop in early for a cappuccino and puppuccino with your best furry mate over breaky plates like shakshuka baked eggs with tomato, capsicum, feta and poached eggs on toast; wrap your hands around a roast chicken and cheddar cheese toasted sandwich with mustard mayo and rocket, on a baguette, or a roast lamb roti wrap with feta, tomato relish and a side salad.

Doggy Biscuits on Breakfast Menu

Overlooking the marina from a prime position on Park Street, treat yourself and loved ones to a meal at Seasalt Café & Restaurant in Port Macquarie. Whether meeting friends for coffee, or mooring the yacht and visiting for a leisurely bite, Seasalt’s picturesque view adds to contemporary dining inside and out on a wide timber deck, an ideal spot to enjoy a sun-kissed experience.

With doggy biscuits on the breakfast menu, there is no better place to chill out with Fido and start your day the right way with corn and zucchini fritters, smoked salmon, poached egg, spinach and Hollandaise sauce; the lunch crowd enjoys a signature Seasalt salad with prawns, mixed leaves, feta, roasted sweet potato, sun-dried tomato, roasted almonds and house special dressing.
