Introducing 96 Degrees - Bringing Top Quality Teas to Australia

It’s time to take another look at tea.

Here in Australia, we have arguably some of the best cups of coffee in the world, so we haven’t needed to look beyond that, but our love of tea has slowly been creeping up with golden turmeric lattes, chai and of course, English breakfast.

It’s time to give tea some long overdue love, but it has to earn it and like coffee, it is all about the quality and smoothness of the drink.

Now the perfect cup of tea has made its way to Down Under shores and stores with the launch of 96° teas.

The brand’s name, 96°, is the perceived optimal brewing temperature for Assam, the company’s founder Adarash Sethia’s favourite cup of tea. It soon became a byword for his passion for sourcing the best teas to make the perfect cup.

Adarsh’s family used to be in the tea business and he has always been fortunate enough to have access to really good quality tea via old friends in the industry, however, he could never find them closer to home.

The lack of his Assam tea packages during COVID was ultimately the catalyst for the brand – it was time to take control of his tea supply and this time make it accessible to all.

"My wife, Anjum Anand, and I are both big fans of Australia, having spent a lot of time here while building our last brand, The Spice Tailor. We enjoyed great coffee everywhere we went, but really missed the good tea which we drink every morning. We are proud and excited to bring 96° tea to Coles and hope we can get Australians as excited about tea as they are about coffee,” Adarsh says.

96° is a collection of only the finest quality black, green and herbal teas from around the world. They understand the love, care and knowledge that goes into high-quality tea and it shows in every delicious sip.

The tea is packaged in large pyramid-shaped tea bags to allow the leaves to unfurl and release the full complexity of flavours. These are then sealed in individual air-tight envelopes to preserve the freshness of the tea as it easily absorbs other smells.

All the packaging is either compostable or fully recyclable and all of the teas are sourced from certified plantations, ensuring they have strong, fair labour policies.

Initially launching in Coles with four varieties – chamomile, Chinese green, English breakfast and mint – this premium quality tea promises to deliver the perfect cup of tea every time and is priced at $10 for 20 tea bags.
