Expect delicious Tasmanian fare served in spectacular surroundings at Mount Paul Lounge on Coles Bay Road in Coles Bay. The onsite restaurant for Freycinet Resort, every meal is an unforgettable dining experience celebrating the state’s natural bounty in a seasonal omakase-style menu.

Why should you drop in for a meal at Mount Paul Lodge? Here are three good reasons:

What’s your most popular dish/drink:

The signature of Mount Paul Lodge is our eight-course seasonal omakase that seamlessly fuses Tasmanian produce with Japanese cooking techniques and presentation. One specific dish from this set menu not to be missed is the sushi plate (Chef’s choice).

What's your point of difference:

The sushi selection will change daily depending on what has been caught locally – it might include tuna, blue eye or flathead - but we always guarantee it will be fresh, delicious and skilfully prepared.

Tasmania’s East Coast is known for its seafood.  Our Chefs have worked hard to build strong relationships with Tasmanian fishermen, to secure the best and freshest we can have daily.

What is a fun fact that not many people know about the restaurant?

The view from our restaurant, as the only accommodation on the mountain, we offer unparalleled views that encompass The Hazards, Great Oyster Bay and the Freycinet National Park to our guests.

All the tables in our lounge were custom-made by Tasmanian craftsmen and all woods used are Tasmanian timbers, like Huon Pine, Blackwood, Myrtle etc.

Especially, there are two pieces of timber in our lounge that are very special - one Huon Pine slab made for a large bench table was an ice age piece (10,000 years old); it has been carbon dated as it has a section in it which shows an ice age period.

Another Huon Pine piece is our wall decoration, the story behind this piece is that when Prime Minister John Howard had his office redone they purchased six slabs and only used five, ours is the sixth piece.
