Quintessentially Christmas, this Barker’s of New Zealand Breakfast Marmalade glazed ham is perfect for Christmas lunch.
A stunning table centrepiece for any festive celebration, this recipe delivers a beautiful golden apricot glaze, along with tangy citrus flavours that balance ideally with the rich and fatty texture of the ham.
Reminiscent of marmalade made in the home kitchen, this is Barker’s first marmalade to hit Australian shelves – made from a traditional recipe and packed with real, whole fruit, this pantry staple has all the characteristic chunky fruit bites that marmalade is known and loved for.
A twist on usual orange marmalade, it features grapefruit and lemon to create a vibrant, zesty and mildly bitter spread – ideal for enhancing all foodies’ home-cooked dishes.
You can add it to the kitchen table on hot-buttered toast, be creative by using a generous spoonful of ricotta and marmalade on bread, bake it in a sweet treat such as a citrus upside-down cake; or make it savoury by adding a little cider vinegar, cayenne, salt and pepper and use it as a baste for grilled chicken.
Gluten-free, Barker’s marmalade contains no added preservatives, artificial colours or flavours; making it the right choice for those with dietary requirements.
Try this recipe for glazed Christmas ham and watch the delight on faces around the family festive table come December 25.
While this version uses a half leg, you can use a whole leg (7-8 kg) as there is enough glaze to cover and baste the whole leg. It will need to be cooked for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
For the half, use the leftover marmalade glaze as a sauce for the table.
You can also freeze the skin from the hock with some of the fat attached and add it to a pea and ham soup in Winter for a tasty flavour addition.
As for leftovers, they go so well with a breakfast spread on Boxing Day too!
