Merry Christmas Everyone – Festive Cheers from AGFG!

From the Editor, Leigh O’Connor.

Merry Christmas to one and all! All that preparation has paid off…the turkey and ham are cooking in the oven, Christmas paper covers the floor from presents being unwrapped and there’s a glass of bubbles in your hand.

What can be better than an Australian Christmas? New Year’s Eve, of course, let’s start preparing for 2024 and where we are going on holiday…

Skyscanner has revealed the cost-of-living woes aren’t dampening our travel ambitions for next year. Did you that some of us plan our trips based around the main character in our favourite TV shows, with ‘Emily in Paris’ tempting a whopping 50% of us to head to France on holiday?

Closer to home, we take a look at a perfect day in the Blue Mountains from a local’s point of view, including a must-read foodie’s guide to the area from Ellen Hill at Blue Mountains Tourism; or take your tastebuds to the good ol’ USA as we review Snoop Dogg’s new cookbook, 'Goon with a Spoon'.

Written in collaboration with iconic Bar Area rapper, homie and mentor, Earl ‘E-40’ Stevens, there are more than 65 delicious recipes, including Snoop’s version of a green brownie…no, not that kind of brownie! However, Snoop and E-40 admit they are not opposed to the other version either.

As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, there’s nothing quite like the effervescent excitement of popping the cork on a bottle of bubbles. The celebratory clinking of glasses and the dancing bubbles in your flute signify the promise of a brand-new year filled with hope and joy; try one of the three unique sparkling recommendations we have for you – you’re welcome!
