The Calile Hotel in Brisbane will welcome much-loved cook, presenter and best-selling author, Julia Busuttil Nishimura for the launch of Rooftop Harvest, an ongoing series of special events celebrating food through collaborations, new and experimental food concepts and inclusive explorations of fresh air, food and ideas.
The Rooftop Harvest event series is a natural progression, building on the success of the cultural and community programming from The Calile, intended to connect the community and encourage physical engagement, appreciation, discourse and learning across all forms of experiences.

Debuting on Thursday, March 13, 2025, the series’ first iteration will invite guests to take part in an epicurean excursion, presented by Julia in conversation with leading Australian Chef and restaurateur Mark Best, that honours food as the great connecting force to our environment and each other.
"Julia embodies all that is Rooftop Harvest. Her cooking speaks to connectivity and generosity through both flavour and accessibility, a sentiment that reflects our own approach to food, growth, provenance and nurturing connection through food,” says The Calile Co-owner, Catherine Malouf.
Admired for her comforting and uncomplicated approach, Julia’s food philosophy is focused on creating memorable meals and shared experiences through cooking.

"Every meal is something to celebrate. It doesn't matter what the occasion, there is an unspoken joy in sharing food with others,” Julia says.
The culinary event will take place in two locations with welcome drinks and canapés as well as a live cooking demonstration by Julia taking place in The Calile’s rooftop garden; to an alfresco multicourse dinner hosted by Julia in the hotel’s Amphitheatre.
Home-grown seasonal ingredients from the late Summer rooftop harvest will be utilised in a custom menu created by Julia and The Calile Hotel culinary team.
This is Julia’s first Brisbane event and tickets to this intimate occasion are highly limited.
