Hamburgers first appeared on Australian menus in the 1950s, originally introduced by American troops stationed Down Under during World War II and have quickly become a diet staple; every café worth its reputation will have a burger on the menu as an obligatory option for those who can’t decide.

With a fast-paced lifestyle, many of us don’t have time to cook elaborate meals or even sit down for a meal, making the humble or gourmet burger the perfect choice for a satisfying lunch, dinner or anytime go-to.

This week, we ask ‘what’s between your buns, hun’ as we delve into all things burger…from the evolution of the gourmet burger to five essentials for curating the perfect burger, along with recipes to knock the top of your bun off!
