Good food, good wine and good times have Adelaide diners returning time and again to Leigh Street Wine Room in the heart of the CBD. A tall, narrow gallery with an iconic sweeping arched ceiling, rich textures and a mish-mash of wine art create a time-warp vibe of intimate wine bars and lively drinking dens from Paris to Rome and New York.

Sommelier Nicola Calvert recommends trying Bandicoot Run’s red and white blend Lucid Dreams 2021 – Pinot Noir, Tempranillo and Viognier, intended to be served chilled like a rosé.

"Since moving back to Australia, I am learning about so many new famers and winemakers,” she says. "In early 2022, I was introduced to Bandicoot Run and quickly became very interested to learn more about what Adriana and Al are doing on their farm in West Gippsland.”

A lucid dream is one where you become aware that you are dreaming and can even gain some control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment. A fitting name for this particular wine, which will change from year to year depending on a multitude of factors that make up the growing season.

Made from a combination of fruit grown on Bandicoot’s West Gippsland farm, this drop tastes sweet with spiced baked quince, a touch of Turkish delight and tart cranberries - best shared with good friends and many laughs.

Along with making wine and farming their land together, there is another side to Bandicoot Run; for the last 5 years, Al has been crafting knives in a shed on their farm, under the name Wren Knives.
