Archer Park Rail Museum
About Archer Park Rail Museum
Step back in time with a trip to Archer Park Rail Museum, one of Rockhampton's long standing historical attractions. Telling the tale of railway developments and the history of rail transport, the Archer Park Rail Museum holds a wonderful collection of photos, soundscapes and object based exhibitions. Visit the museum on a weekend and take a ride on the tram, which operates Sundays from 10am-1pm. The Purrey Steam Tram is said to be the only one of its kind in the world, giving an example of Rockhampton's Tram history which dates back to 1909. The Archer Park Railway Station itself was built in 1899 and is listed as a museum under the Qld Heritage Act.
Really enjoyed my visit to the Archer Park Rail Museum, lots of interesting historical displays.
