About Fannie Bay Gaol
Darwin's major detention centre for about a century, Fannie Bay Gaol contains some of the most important social histories of the Northern Territory. The former Labour Prison and Her Majesty's Gaol, this prison turned museum has maintained its original architecture complete with stone cells, a dirty kitchen and washouse. Replacing prisoners with a number of compelling artifacts, Fannie Bay Gaol takes you through a day in the life of a prisoner, where you can wander amongst the grounds and visit sections of the old gaol.
