About Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon

A star of the kitchen as well as the stage, former TV Chef Marc Kuzma (aka Claire de Lune) lets his talents shine at his Darlinghurst venue, Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon. Charming French waiters warmly welcome patrons to Claire’s – a chic, intimate and fabulously French ensemble of glittering chandeliers, lavish wallpaper, antiques, white linen and black Louis XV chairs and lounges. Claire’s beauty isn’t only skin deep; Kuzma’s dishes – brasserie classics with a contemporary touch - like pan-fried snapper fillet, Jerusalem artichoke puree, veal jus and crispy Parmesan asparagus, or duck and Pinot Noir pie, also impress. Finish with a French pastry, chocolate mousse or crème brulee from the dessert trolley followed by a fine French wine, or Claire de Lune cocktail in the mezzanine bar.

Friendly attentive but not overbearing service was maintained throughout my meal by the French waiters who added to the ambience. I was offered a special set price menu of any two courses for $49. I chose the Soup du jour (French onion) and Filet de boeuf. The soup base was a rich beef stock which was beautifully and authentically seasoned. The fillet was grass fed Cape Grim beef from Tasmania, cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. It came with truffled mashed potato and jus sauce. I also had a very generous accompaniment of Poelee d'haricots verts, the green beans were served with a mustard sauce ($10) and like everything else I ate, cooked to perfection. I selected a glass of Bouchard Aine

Reasonably priced great tasting French coming with inventive cocktails. Staff are great too.

We had dinner for five, two had just arrived from overseas and were jet lagged. So we asked to move the booking forward. Marc the chef couldnt have been more accomodating, nor could him or his staff made us feel more welcome. The food and service were exceptional. We had a delightful evening. We will be back.
