Fabulous food. Authentic flavours with fabulous service in a beautiful restaurant
We just had an amazing meal at Eastern Spice in Bellarine Street, Geelong. This restaurant has only been open for a week and chef Mani has created an outstanding menu, which makes other Indian restaurants pale in comparison. There were 5 of us and we started by sharing 5 entrees. It was hard to choose, because I could quite happily order any of the entrees on the menu. However, we had to choose, so we went with samosa, mixed pakora, crumbed mushrooms, potato croquettes with crab filling and a chicken malai tikka. Every dish was absolutely delicious. I have not seen most of these dishes on any other Indian menu and not one of them disappointed. The mushrooms and croquettes were particularly outstanding. You won’t find better food anywhere. All of this was perfectly paired with an Italian Grenache, which has been hand-picked by Mani to perfectly accompany her food. Then onto the mains! I intend to come back on a regular basis and work my way through every dish on the menu, because it is impossible to choose. I have therefore decided to start at the top and work my way down. My wife had the butter chicken, which is completely different (and streets better) than any other butter chicken we’ve ever had. I went with the Khadai Murg (Chicken with bell pepper, tomato, etc in a tomato gravy) which again I have never seen on a menu and was superb. Our friends went with the staple lamb rogan josh and a fish curry in coconut milk. All meals were amazing. (The garlic naan is also great) The décor is very tasteful, service prompt and friendly and food presentation impressive. A special visit from chef Mani at our table completed a perfect evening. We will now certainly be regulars (if we can get a table once word gets out about this place!)
Eastern spice stands by its tagline as "not the typical Indian joint " . You need to try the crab tikki , scallop curry and the non vegetarian sharing platter which stands apart from what I have normally experienced in most of the Indian restaurants in the area. The food is delictable and the staff is very friendly . I would rather say that it is a fine dining experience at very reasonable prices. A must visit if you are a local in the Geelong area .
Had one of the finest dining experience in my life. The quality and presentation of food was far excellent. It is indeed not like many of the typical Indian restaurants. It is indeed an awesome place to dine with mouth watering dishes with water front views.
The wonderful view of Eastern Beach accompanied with the fresh delicious food (which had quite a unique and brilliant plating from any other restaurant) and the friendly and attentive staff made the night unforgettable. Highly recommend Eastern Spice!!!
You can enjoy all the home-cooked goodness of Indian food once again, great fusion of simplicity, taste and friendly service.
