About Hellenis
Offering a little piece of the Mediterranean in Surrey Hills, Hellenis on Whitehorse Road embraces all things Greek. Bask in the calming ambience of an aqua décor the colour of the Aegean, where worn brick and geometric hanging lights complement pale wood tables and white chairs, encouraging diners to linger longer over brunch, or a Friday evening meal with a special someone. In balmy weather take to a black trellised alfresco area with flowers spilling from planter boxes, while savouring delights such as stuffed eggplant, oven baked with housemade tomato sauce, mushroom and cheese. Share a mezze plate like zucchini fritters with tzatziki and rocket salad, or perhaps spanakopita - spinach and cheese filo parcels - before a chicken gyro with caramelised onion, rocket, chips and dill aioli.

How I image Greece to be
If I were Greek and went to visit my family in Greece this is how I would imagine my food tasting. Homemade with love and care, made especially for me waiting for my reaction to the home cooked goodness that comes with one of the simplest gifts we can give to another human...food. The bean salad is one of the freshest salads iv had with the combination of mint making feel light as air when you take the first bite. If you like cheese the saganaki is bar none even, at your most full you will consider ordering just one more piece. Don’t know what to order, no problem, have a little bit of everything with the meze option. On the run? Grab a souva for dinner. Feel like something sweet, but not too sweet ur teeth shake. The berry French toast is to die for. I have been there multiple times and it never disappoints I can’t wait for the weather to warm up to enjoy the back patio.
