Seasonally inspired farm-to-table dining experiences showcasing produce from the estate garden and hyper-local producers.
About Margan Restaurant
For contemporary estate fine dining in the tranquil rural setting of the Hunter Valley, visit award-winning Margan Restaurant in Broke. Relax in classical surrounds inside, complete with white tablecloths and fine cutlery, or dine alfresco on the verandah and take in breathtaking vineyard views, as well as the Brokenback Range. With all ingredients grown either on-site or within a short distance of the restaurant, Margan’s menu maintains a strong focus on local and seasonal produce. Enjoy kingfish tartare, cucamelons and Bloody Mary dressing, before Margan family lamb, caponata, salsa verde and sides of twice-cooked potatoes and tomato and basil salad with balsamic. Mulloway, cucumber, preserved lemon and anchovy butter entice the pescatarian diner, paired with a Margan estate wine.
A few words from Margan Restaurant
Margan Restaurant is now in its twelfth year and as the pioneers of agri-dining in the Hunter Valley we are committed more than ever to our ‘estate grown, estate made' ethos.
We base our menus around what we harvest from our one acre kitchen garden and orchard to maintain a truly seasonal focus. In addition we have our own olive trees, free range chickens, honey and raise our own lambs. A selection of our estate grown produce is incorporated into the menu. What we do not grow or produce here on the estate we source from our local area including Wagyu beef, pigs from Krinklewood biodynamic farm, mushrooms, olive oil and farm gate produce from Broke.
We are firm believers in respectful animal husbandry and all our poultry, fish and animals are raised humanely and sustainably. Our ‘nose to tail' philosophy shows respect for the entire animal utilising prime cuts as well as secondary ones with our own charcuterie production including prosciutto, coppa and pancetta. We ‘dry age' our beef on site to ensure maximum flavour.
As farmers we are committed to looking after the land and as such are certified with Green Table Australia as well as Sustainable Winegrowing Australia for our environmental sustainability initiatives (first and only HV restaurant and winery). Integrity is important to us and our accreditation benchmarks us internationally for best practice to ISO14000.
Andrew Margan has created a great wine list with current and back vintage Margan wines as well as a collection of other Hunter greats and international gems from his own private collection.

Good favourite
This place, quite simply amazing food and lunch at Margan could possibly be the best dining experience in the country! Having opted for the degustation menu, we were impressed with every morsel, the method, the delivery, the timing, all perfect. The wait staff were attentive and non intrusive, absolute quality of service, the wines were also very, very good. Outstanding, thankyou.
Fantastic location and food to boot. I have eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed. I look forward to going back many times in the future.
Our favourite restaurant in Hunter Valley. We recommend the 30m meal where all the ingredients have been sourced 30 meters from the restaurant. What also impressed us was that they charge the wines at their cellar prices.
We had lunch here the food was amazing , very friendly staff. Already looking forward to my next trip to the Hunter so I can feast on the fantastic food.
