Montalto is a place where you can celebrate life and enjoy a moment out of the ordinary.

Owned by the Mitchell family since 1999, Montalto is where seasonal, heirloom produce is grown, shared and celebrated. Montalto's home estate of 30 acres under vine is the primary source for our wines, and the expansive kitchen gardens and orchards supply our kitchens in The Restaurant and The Piazza.

Our award-winning winemaking team, led by Simon Black, create wines of exemplary quality and character, utilising winemaking techniques that complement the unique qualities derived from only the very best parcels of fruit taken from our five vineyards, in a style that reflects each cool-climate, martine-climate vineyard site, unique to our location on the Mornington Peninsula.

Perfect to drink now, or to cellar, Montalto wines are to savour.


THE RESTAURANT AT MONTALTO

Like the seasons, the menu in The Restaurant at Montalto continues to be ever-changing, however always showcases a celebration of our estate-grown heirloom produce, alongside the very best locally sourced ingredients from across the Mornington Peninsula.

Specifically designed to share, curated collections of dishes arrive at the table in a series of courses. Each course masterfully highlights the deep connection between our estate gardens (expertly managed by our Produce Manager Julie Bennett), our kitchens and our award-winning wines, inspired by our Culinary Creative Director, Matt Wilkinson.

We invite you to enjoy lunch in The Restaurant, from Friday - Monday, whilst looking out over the breathtaking view across our Red Hill vineyards, Sculpture Trail through to Western Port on the horizon.

Reservations are essential.


THE PIAZZA AT MONTALTO

Montalto is all about sharing: food, wine and good times with loved ones; connecting with each other and to the surrounding environment. The Piazza is an outdoor dining experience where you can sit amongst Wendy's Garden and likely see chefs picking produce, herbs and flowers for the day's menu.

Enjoy an abundant menu of casual starters, mains, sides and desserts – all matched with our award-winning wines, whilst overlooking our estate gardens and vines.


THE CELLAR DOOR

Montalto's warm and welcoming Cellar Door team invite you to taste our award-winning wines. Relax and enjoy a selection of wine varietals, hand-picked by our team, as they personally guide you through our portfolio. We have three seated tastings available to reserve online: Latest Release, Single Vineyard Exploration & Museum vs Latest.


PICNICS

Since 2002, we've invited guests to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of our estate at a collection of secluded picnic sites – all of which have been specifically chosen for their unique and stunning locations.

Every private picnic begins with a bespoke wine tasting in our Cellar Door. Our highly trained, friendly staff will help you select the perfect wine for your picnic, based on your personal preferences and the generous, seasonal menu showcasing our estate-grown heirloom produce, alongside the very best locally sourced ingredients from across the Mornington Peninsula.

With wine and a detailed map in hand, you'll gently make your way to your covered, private picnic site where you'll find your table beautifully set with white linen, tableware and glassware. Enjoy a glass of wine in the spring sunshine before settling in for lunch.

A selection of stunning starters will be ready for you to enjoy upon your arrival to your picnic site. Magnificent main courses and decadent desserts will be be personally delivered by our dedicated Picnic Patrol team.

Need more wine? You can radio our Picnic Patrol anytime and we'll come straight out with whatever you need. We're at your service.

When the day is done, wander back through The Piazza for one last glass of wine looking out across the estate before you go. Don't forget to pop your head into The Cellar Door to pick up a bottle of your favourite wine to enjoy at home.


SCULPTURE TRAIL

Sculpture is an integral part of life at Montalto and a highlight of any visit to the estate. Our 1km Sculpture Trail winds through our vines, along wooden boardwalks and through the wetlands and affords spectacular views of both the sculptures and the property along the way. Allow up to an hour to enjoy the trail at your leisure.
