About The Old Canberra Inn
Enjoy a piece of history in the heart of Lyneham at The Old Canberra Inn, a family-friendly pub along Mouat Street, dating back to 1857. Lending old world charm, The Inn radiates warmth with lounges by two cosy fireplaces and decor from recycled railway sleepers, while three beer gardens and two function rooms ensure events are well catered for. Giving pub fare a make-over, The Inn sources MSA grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and ham with ever-changing weekend specials and an inhouse smoking machine for succulent meat with a smoky flavour. Go for lamb kofta meatballs, harissa hummus and toasted flatbread; before red wine braised beef short ribs, crispy Parmesan polenta and chimichurri. Burger lovers can wrap their hands around sriracha chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, dill and mayo.

Groups & Functions
The Canberra Inn was built in 1857, with round timber poles and framing, clad with handmade vertical timber slabs. These are building techniques characteristic of the pioneer era, and served it well as a regular stopping place for the Queanbeyan-Yass mail coach. A visitor in 1878 reported that the Inn was “deserving of wide renown for its excellent beer” and described its fare as “first class”.The Inn’s excellent reputation lives on, now with very modern facilities for your next function.

I made a booking a few weeks in advance. I then tried calling several times on five different days, leaving a message and messaging on Facebook to alter the booking. No one ever answered the phone or called back.

Most enjoyable, respectful and simple small plate for the memory
Lamb Kofta Meatballs with hummus and toasted flatbread. Can call it a delicacy or a snack or a small meal. Delicious and satisfying
