Perth:
Thursday, October 3 – Spooky Storytime at City of Perth Library. Creep along the dark, dark street with the Ahlberg’s skeleton family, play hide and seek with ghosts in Jeffers’ old house and venture into the haunted forest to meet Dahman and Digard’s Lord of the Toadstools. Do you dare to join the spooky storytime?
Check out Roebuck Park in Eglinton – Ahoy, mateys! It is time to set sail for Roebuck Park, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Eglinton – a shipwreck-themed playground with an enchanting escape for families in search of outdoor adventure. At the heart of the park stands a towering lookout commanding a bird’s eye view of the playground and its surroundings. It’s the perfect perch for young buccaneers before plunging down two thrilling tunnel slides.
Go on a bike ride – Perth has great networks of cycle paths, making for loads of kid-friendly spots for a family bike ride. You can even take your bikes on Transperth trains during off-peak times, weekends and public holidays, along with on Transperth Ferries.

Darwin:
Tuesday, October 1 – Marrara Sports Trek. Join in a sports taster day at Marrara Sports Complex where you will get to try your hand at a bunch of different activities and meet other young people. Bring a friend or make some new ones at this inclusive fun and free day out.
Thursday, October 3 – Pillowcase Workshop. This free workshop at Nightcliff Library gives participants a pillowcase to decorate and take home, kick-starting your very own personal emergency kit. The Pillowcase Program has been proven to boost children’s preparedness knowledge, alleviate fears about emergencies and encourage positive behaviour changes in response to emergency situations.
Friday, October 4 – KROC Party. Let’s celebrate the Kids Reading Oz Choice Award (KROC) with a party at Casuarina Library where the KROC Award winners will be announced. There is still time to vote for your favourite book, with prizes for those who vote along with a lucky door prize.
Friday, October 4 – Fun in the Parks Volleyball. Unleash your inner volleyball start at Moil Park and develop your skills, work with your team and find out if you have what it takes to win. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend and participate – all children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all events.
Hobart:
Tuesday, October 1 – Banging Science Experiments at Hobart Library. Create self-inflating balloons, make lava lamps, whip up butter in a jar and ice cream in a bag! It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore science through exciting, messy and tasty experiments.
Friday, October 4 – Jock the Hero Dog at Glenorchy Library. Enjoy special school holiday movie screening of Jock the Hero Dog – a family animated adventure that tells the heart-warming, coming-of-age story of a young man and his best friend, a lovable and fearless dog named Jock. Narrated by the late Donald Sutherland, the story takes place in the beautiful outback of South Africa.
Monday, October 7 – Dot and Dash Robots Challenge at Hobart Library. Ready, set, dash! Gear up for the Dash Robots Challenge – budding coders and tech lovers will program and control fun robots to complete tasks and challenges.
Kingston Park Playground – Discover a nature-based play space for all ages and abilities. There are nine distinct areas of play, representing the aspirations of the community and inspired by native fauna and habitats within Kingborough. There is also a large open space connected to the playground with BBQs, room to play ball games, a beginners pump track, bike tracks and outdoor gym zones.
