Dad You Are One in a Melon - Five Restaurants to Put the Cherry on Top of Father’s Day.

Did you know the world’s oldest Dad is believed to be an Indian man Ramjit Raghave, who fathered his second child at age 96?

That may seem like a mean feat, but spare a thought for the humble male seahorse who actually gets to carry the eggs and birth the babies!

Father’s Day on Sunday, September 4 is the time to celebrate all Dads and tell them how much they mean to us. Here are five of our restaurant picks to get the family together and let Dad know that we appreciate his love and guidance through all walks of our life:

Spoil Papa on Sunday with a fabulous day at La Camera Southgate on the mid-level of East End in Southbank. A free pint of beer for all fathers, delicious food, amazing views and friendly staff with that special family touch await; being a family-run restaurant, La Camera goes to all lengths to make this day a memorable occasion.

Choose from à la carte options such as fresh linguine, braised mussel meat, calamari, diced fish, prawns, garlic and chilli; while groups of 10 or more dine from the three-course set menu – balcony and window seats sell out fast, so get in quick!

Located on the banks of Lake Daylesford with exquisite water views from any vantage point, The Boathouse Restaurant offers a sophisticated dining venue to celebrate fatherhood. With two seating options available on Sunday – expect stylish food and professional service as you and Dad enjoy a glass of wine and graze on entrées like chicken liver pâté, relish, cornichons and sourdough.

For the main, treat the man in your life to slow-roasted pork belly, Dauphinoise potato, broccolini, apple chutney and red wine jus; or crispy skinned barramundi, polenta, ratatouille and salsa verde.

Indulge in fine wine and a meal fit for a King at Willo Parramatta on Smith Street on Sunday as the family gets together to celebrate all things Dad. The little ones are kept happy with a special children’s menu, while the grown-ups can choose from the à la carte menu delving into starters like tiny bird’s nest, with spicy salami and Italian meringue.

Enjoy a cheeky cocktail as you contemplate main dishes such as Ranger’s Valley Scotch fillet, mixed herb butter and sides of crispy baked potato and broccolini; or handmade ravioli, ricotta, burnt butter, pumpkin purée and Amaretti.

Expect $6 schooners, $10 pints, $30 cocktail jugs and beer buckets as you toast the special men in your life and graze on $1 chicken wings; or choose from the tapas menu and chow down on duck spring rolls, rocket and sweet chilli sauce.

Slice a knife into perfectly cooked sirloin steak, topped with creamy garlic prawns, served with fries and salad; while seafood lovers opt for salt and pepper squid salad, rocket, cherry tomato, pickled walnut, red onion and lemongrass mayonnaise.
