According to leading global travel app Skyscanner’s latest research, 49% of Aussie travellers are planning to get away this Winter – but 52% have yet to book!
Indecision on dates and destinations rank as some of the top reasons travellers have yet to hit the book button. It’s clear travellers are on the hunt for great value deals with 41% sharing they are still trying to find the best deal and another 18% waiting for that last-minute super deal.
Aussies are taking more of a ‘loud budgeting’ approach to their Winter holidays this year prompting Skyscanner to unveil a new and improved version of its ‘Savings Generator’ tool, which shows travellers how to make their money go further.
The app displays the average monthly price and visualises the best time to book trends for some of the most popular destinations, along with suggesting a host of cheaper destinations.
When should you book to get the best value deals this Winter?
The best time to book flights is 3-4 months ahead of departure. However, for those still looking to get a last-minute deal, Skyscanner’s app can show you the average monthly price according to the route and month.
For example, a fare from Sydney to Phuket in Thailand in July costs an average of $760, while in August it is only $568.
Analysing millions of flight bookings over the past 18 months, the Savings Generator shows the best time to book can vary on both the route and month of travel.
