Why should you drop in for a meal at A Taste of Avon? Here are three good reasons:
What’s your must-try popular dish/drink:
For mains, our lamb ragu with herb and garlic spaghetti is a must, we rub a paprika and pepper mix over the lamb before char-grilling the meat and braising for 24 hours, the meat and sauce becomes quite peppery and tender. Perfect for a cold Winter’s day or even a warm Summer’s night, also perfect with our Head Red Shiraz or even our Heathcote Sangiovese.
For desserts, a must is the tiramisu, using our housemade gluten-free sponge soaked in ST.ALi orthodox blend mixed with Frangelico for a hazelnut flavour.
What's your point of difference:
The ability to cater for all dietary requirements and restrictions. Our menu not only has an exceptional range of gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and dairy-free options, Chef Kev can further customise dishes to meet specific allergies related to onions, nuts, citrus and egg.
What is a fun fact that not many people know about the restaurant?
Chef Kev came from Stratford and went to school at Gippsland Grammar before beginning an apprenticeship as a commercial Chef in Bendigo. He has now come home to the region to be closer to his Mum and Dad who live in Stratford, to grow his business with his partner and just enjoy cooking the food he loves for the locals and passing travellers.
