Raising a (Non-alcoholic) Glass to the Sober October Series

By Marie-Antoinette Issa.

The rise of the ‘sober curious’ movement has gone mainstream. No longer the domain of reformed drinkers and wellness warriors, a growing number of Aussies are exploring the benefits of mindful drinking and embracing balance in their lifestyles.

Supporting their efforts this October (or Ocsober), West Hotel Sydney is taking the trend to a new level with its Sober October Series  - a collaboration with OneAnother.io and some of the country’s best non-booze makers to host a series of evenings focused on non-alcoholic beverages, wellness and community.

Presented by the stylish Solander Bar and Dining, this month-long celebration will feature some of the top innovators in the alcohol-free drinks space, including Altina Drinks, Heaps Normal, and Banks Botanicals. Each event offers guests an immersive experience of expertly crafted food and non-alcoholic drink pairings, designed to prove that going alcohol-free doesn’t mean compromising on flavour or fun.

It’s not just about the drinks. Attendees will hear from industry leaders and wellness advocates who will speak on the importance of a mindful approach to drinking. The discussions will highlight how adopting a more balanced lifestyle can lead to improved mental and physical health, fostering a greater sense of community and connection.

Three Events, Three Charities

In the true spirit of giving back, the Sober October Series has partnered with three worthy charities, with proceeds from each event going directly to support their efforts:

October 10 – Altina Wine Event: this evening will support Take 3 for the Sea, an organisation focused on reducing plastic pollution and protecting our oceans through educational initiatives and community action.

October 17 – Heaps Normal Event: proceeds from this event will go to Re, a charity dedicated to providing essential services and support for those in need within local communities.

October 24 – Banks Botanicals Event: the final event will benefit the Australian Bush Heritage Foundation, whose conservation work is vital to protecting Australia’s unique wildlife and natural landscapes.
