Rose the Day Away at These 5 Wineries for International Rose Day

Everything looks better through rose-tinted glasses and on Friday, June 28 it’s time to celebrate International Rosé Day in style!

Did you know rosé was the first wine created about 7000 BC? Red and white wines came a few thousand years later.

Rosé is not meant to be aged and is best consumed within 2-3 years of its release. In France, it is called rosé, while in Italy this drop is called rosato and in Spain, it's rosado.

Whatever you call it, make sure to raise a glass next Friday to one of our favourite drops at these five venues:

Boutique Wine and Cider

Kersbrook Hill Wines on South Para Road in Kersbrook is the place to head for boutique wines and cider of the highest quality in a style that is truly distinctive. Located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, visit the cellar door, experience a private winery tour or celebrate your special occasion in style at this rustic venue where you can relax alfresco under a vine-covered patio amongst wine barrels.

Perhaps pair a glass of Ellie Mae Rosé with a cellar door menu of pizzas and platters made using the best quality local ingredients, while the desserts on offer are created by a local pâtissier; there is also a range of sauces and relishes to take home.

Bold Fruit Flavours

Named after the home town where owners Wayne and Myriam Keoghan first met, Anvers Wines on Razorback Road in Kangarilla offers some of the finest wines in the McLaren Vale region. Established in 1998 and with an emphasis on low-yield production, the winery showcases a range of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier varieties across 16 luscious hectares.

Aged in oak to allow the perfect balance between aroma and flavour, Anvers wines are famous for bold fruit flavours infused with elegance and softness. Perhaps try Anvers' 2023 Razorback Road Syrah Rosé – pale pink in colour, this wine pairs beautifully with charcuterie, cheese and olives as the acidity complements the charcuterie’s richness, while fruity notes enhance the saltiness of the olives and cheese.

Leader in New-emerging Varieties

Established for more than a decade and a leader in new-emerging varieties, ArtWine Estate’s award-winning wines are best enjoyed at the cellar door tucked into the Adelaide Hills along Bird In Hand Road in Woodside. Drop into the cellar door for a tasting of a broad variety covering red, white, sparkling and fortified wines; think drops such as the Wild Flower Rosé, a light and refreshing dry wine with a fruit-driven style, made with minimal oak handling to enhance juicy Merlot characteristics.
