Summer comes early and stays late with Sunday sessions at Canberra’s lakeside outdoor Armada Bar, which returns for fun, stylish drinking from this Friday, October 29.
Situated just metres from Lake Burley Griffin overlooking the Kingston Foreshore and wetlands, this pop-up by the team at The Boat House is the ideal spot to celebrate the end of lockdown and unwind with family and friends.
Spend lazy warm days and evenings by the lake’s edge with a drink in hand and bite to eat, in the large festoon-lit open-sided marquée – styled by OG Canberra Show Pony events – which can be closed to offer protection from the elements if necessary.
This season sees expanded hours with the bar open from 4pm on Friday and 11.30am Saturday and Sunday; meaning more options for lunch, afternoon drinks, or an evening soirée.
The menu is designed and prepared by Chef John Leverink and the team that handles fine dining at the main restaurant on Menindee Drive in Barton; with the same dedication to quality ingredients and a view to being more casual and approachable.
Expect an extensive drinks list featuring cocktails, beers, non-alcoholics and wines; sommelier Kate Hibberson presents a tight and focused wine list, pulling from the best in the region, with a pinch of international flavour.
Looking for the ultimate Sunday session VIP experience? Armada Bar has partnered with GoBoat to launch a new jetty for arrival by boat right in front of the bar – and not just in any boat, but the new and larger skippered GoBoat Luxe.
Enjoy a piloted tour of the lake and finish up for drinks at your own reserved table, disembarking directly at the lake’s edge in front of the bar.
"After the amazing response last season, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back this year. This season is bigger and better than ever. We have an updated menu, new wine list and great new offerings like the VIP GoBoat experience,” says owner James Souter.
"While bookings are available, we are keeping around half of our tables available for walk-ins so feel free to pop down and grab a table, or even bring your own rug to nab a spot on the grass.”
The bar is due to open on Friday and bookings for groups of up to 20 are available now. The season is expected to run until the end of March 2022.
