Cocktail of the Week from Bar Beirut Mixologist Simon Wotton.

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

A modern interpretation of where the Middle East meets the Mediterranean is on the menu at Bar Beirut on Garema Place in the heart of Canberra’s CBD. Join the midweek belly dancing and burlesque fun as you chill out with a refreshing cocktail such as a Wasabi Martini, in surrounds of banquette seating, moody lighting and a well-stocked bar.

Perfect for chilly Canberra weather, Bar Beirut mixologist Simon Wotton recommends trying The Fugitive – a cocktail seven years in the making.

"This is the one that (almost) got away. I had been wanting to put this cocktail on a list for quite some time and finally got the opportunity when I joined the team at Beirut,” he tells AGFG.

A combination of rich Reposado Tequila, sweet fig and fresh pear this is one cheeky cocktail not to be missed. Cheers!
