Forget Beer Gardens…This New Darwin Venue Has a Margarita Garden!

Nightcliff Café Flora’s Temper has had a refresh and is now slinging frozen Margs instead of ice lattes.

The new venue, Flora’s Temper Mexicantina, features a menu packed with modern Mexican dishes that are easy, fun and fresh – and most importantly, made from locally sourced ingredients.

Bringing vibrant Mexican flavours to the Northern Suburbs and beyond, the bright pink and orange Margarita Garden is set to become a favourite neighbourhood haunt.

The menu features favourites like corn cobs, chips and guacamole and ceviche – with some fun twists like chilli con carne meatballs, lettuce-wrapped tacos and habanero and orange chicken wings.

The venue manager, Darwin local Mookie Hesketh, has worked across all sectors of Darwin’s hospitality scene and understands it intricately – having worked in restaurants, managed markets, and owned mobile bars.

"The main focus for us is food options that are easy, accessible, fun and fresh. We want to bring a new flavour to Nightcliff: that includes not only through tasty local produce, but through live music, DJs and even the odd Sunday session!”

Owner Nicholas Peters has worked in hospitality across the world and co-owned what many hail as the restaurant that began Australia’s modern Mexican movement: Mamacita.

Nicho is also a certified Mezcalier and has put together a fun, concise tequila and mezcal list for Flora’s.

"We wanted to add to the choice for the Northern Suburbs. Bring the kids when you want something fun and quick – and get on the frozen Margs with your mates in the Margarita Garden. We want Flora’s to be the place to welcome the whole neighbourhood for some fun and some flavour,” Nicho says.

Opening hours: Thursday 5 pm-8.30 pm; Friday and Saturday 11 am-11 pm.
Located at 8 Pavonia Place, Nightcliff.
