Duke Lane Brings Latin-inspired Flavours to Melbourne

Duke Lane, the newest addition to Melbourne’s dynamic dining scene, has opened its doors in the heart of Windsor, bringing an exciting fusion of Latin American flavours and local influences.

Nestled in the iconic space once home to Saigon Sally, Duke Lane is a vibrant restaurant and bar that celebrates food, fun and togetherness.

At Duke Lane, dining is more than just a meal, it’s an experience. The restaurant’s menu is designed to be shared, reflecting the global culinary influences of its founder, who has drawn inspiration from Melbourne, London and South America.

With a commitment to bold flavours, fresh ingredients and an inviting atmosphere, Duke Lane aims to be Windsor’s go-to destination for memorable gatherings.

"The inspiration for Duke Lane comes from a deeply personal place. Losing my brother was a stark reminder to cherish every moment and I wanted to create a space that embodies celebration, connection and joy,” says founder, Dijon Gordon.

"With great music, an electric ambience and food designed to be shared, Duke Lane is all about making every dining occasion special.”

The menu showcases a fusion of Latin and local flavours, offering a mix of crowd-pleasers and adventurous dishes. Some of the standout offerings include arepitas with beef brisket, mini arepas (fried cornflour discs) topped with guacamole, slow-cooked beef brisket and pico de gallo, with a vegan option available.

Parmesan potato balls are a creamy blend of potato and Parmesan, encased in a crispy, golden shell - a must-try take on arancini. The 300-gram Porterhouse is flame-grilled and coated in a signature spice rub, served sliced with housemade, traditional chimichurri or creamy pepper sauce.

Sesame-seared tuna is coated in a sesame seed spice rub and seared to perfection, served with cinnamon-sugar-dusted fried plantain chips. Tres leches cake is a beloved Latin American dessert, featuring sponge cake soaked in three types of milk, topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

Complementing the menu is an expertly crafted cocktail list designed to elevate the dining experience. Duke Lane’s drinks menu blends global and local inspirations, featuring house-designed cocktails and a curated wine selection.

Adding to the fun is the unique Dessert Shot menu, where guests can finish their meal with playful, themed shots like the Churro Shot or Jam Donut Shot. For those who can’t pick just one, The Flight of Shots offers a tasting of all six.

Duke Lane takes its name from its distinctive laneway-inspired setting on Duke Street, just off Chapel Street. Located next to Windsor’s answer to Hosier Lane, the venue is surrounded by striking street art that adds a bold visual backdrop to the experience.

Inside, the team has reimagined the space to create an upmarket yet relaxed atmosphere, with a spacious bar perfect for enjoying cocktails and late-night conversations.

"We wanted Duke Lane to be a place where people can unwind, celebrate and create lasting memories. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner, a special occasion, or just a round of our signature shots, we want every visit to feel like a night to remember,” Dijon says.
