Located in the heart of Queensland at Longreach, The Outback Food, Wine & Music Festival is an unmissable event – and 2021 was no exception, even during pandemic times.
Held last weekend and set in the idyllic gardens of the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, guests were treated to a tantalising array of tasty morsels, including an oyster and seafood bar, cuisine from around the globe and a dessert degustation.
As one of the event sponsors, AGFG was represented by our resident Chef Shawn Sheather, along with celebrity Chef Matt Golinski, who cooked up a feast using the finest beef from Stanbroke, a family-owned Australian integrated beef and cattle company.
"It's great to see the Longreach Food and Wine Festival running and of course ‘covid-safe’ this year, I'm sure everyone will be appreciative of the opportunity to celebrate the event,” Shawn says. "To work with an industry icon like Matt Golinski was great, he is a true legend.
"To represent AGFG in such a regional location is always exciting. AGFG prides itself in supporting the entire country and the hospitality sector - not just the major cities or the big-name places - it's about helping the industry.”
Shawn says the festival went incredibly well with 549 tickets sold and appearances by celebrity guests, live music and entertainment; alongside an incredible Outback gourmet escape, as visitors sipped, feasted and danced the night away to majestic sunsets.
After many years working in restaurants and a six-year stint owning and operating a successful Noosa catering company, Matt Golinski now uses his experience travelling to events all over the country showcasing their ‘food identity’ and showing the world what makes their area unique; as well as overseeing the kitchen at View Restaurant at Peppers Resort in Noosa.
"The Masterclass working with Matt went well, he is a really nice guy!” Shawn tells AGFG.
