Toby’s Estate certainly loves coffee and now it’s official, the rest of the world does too!
Toby’s flagship café and roastery in Chippendale, Sydney, has been voted The World’s Best Coffee Shop at the inaugural The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops Gala that took place at CoffeeFest Madrid, in Spain.
A new global recognition system where coffee shops around the globe are judged on the criteria of Quality of Coffee, Barista Experience, Customer Service, Innovation, Ambience and Atmosphere, Sustainability Practices, Food and Pastry Quality and Consistency; renowned Aussie speciality coffee roaster, Toby’s Estate, beat them all as the world’s best coffee shop.
Two other Australian cafés, Proud Mary in Melbourne and Coffee Anthology in Brisbane, also made the top 10 in 4th and 8th place respectively, while a total of nine Australian coffee shops made the best 100 list.
According to Jody Leslie, General Manager for Toby’s Estate, they’re beyond thrilled with the new accolade:

The Chippendale café and roastery is an experiential-based venue breaking down the walls between the customer and the barista for a coffee experience like no other. The island brew bar allows customers to get up close, ask questions and share their passion for coffee, with overhead mirrors for watching all the magic happen.
Glass doors at the back of the café also give customers a behind-the-scenes look into the roastery, where the roasting team are hard at work crafting and creating your favourite espresso blends, industry leading Single Origin program and the limited-edition Flavour Savours.
