Do you have mixed drinks about feelings when it comes to spoiling Dad on Father’s Day, Sunday September 3?
A party without cocktails is just a meeting, so make sure happy hour lasts all day as we celebrate the men in our lives with a cocktail of choice – it’s strange how eight glasses of water a day seems impossible but eight cocktails doesn’t!
Here are four cocktails sure to knock Dad’s socks off and get the party started:
A boozy maple bacon Old-fashioned is the perfect drink for any occasion – let’s face it what can be better than bacon and bourbon, with a splash of maple syrup, Angostura bitters and a crispy slice of bacon as garnish.
Imagine camping by the fire at night, where the edible moss represents the Tallebudgera Valley with hearty and tropical flavours and sipping the tastes of Italy through the Montenegro and Aperol, combined with a world-class rum and orange juice for a good dose of vitamins.
The concept for this Camp by the Fire cocktail from Balboa Italian on Gold Coast Highway in Palm Beach came to Bar Manager Filippo Corsi in a dream.
To make this creation you will need a mini fire pit and some wood chips to toast the marshmallows. At Balboa, the drink is brought to the table by your waiter, who then lights the fire pit for you…pretty flaming good, right?
Inspired by the grand plantation architecture of Cuba, mixed with modern vintage 1950s Miami hotels, Hyde Hacienda on Macquarie Street in Circular Quay is an ideal location to meet for after-work drinks and watch the sky turn sunset red, perhaps sipping an O’Reana cocktail.
This creation came about as a French and Polynesian bartender came together to meld their cultures in one - Cognac representing France and tropical flavours representing Polynesian nations.
Whether you are celebrating, catching up or just hanging out, it’s better with a drink in hand at Sasquatch Bar on Gympie Road in Brisbane. Mixologist Sarah Russ shares her cocktail recipe for El Pomelo – great for anyone looking for a new drink with the perfect amount of bite.
"We wanted a new way to enjoy tequila and what we've come up with is a refreshing bevvy that combines everything we could think of to complement tequila,” she explains.
"This cocktail has just the right balance of lime and pineapple with the sweet tartness of grapefruit liqueur and just the right amount of Chartreuse thrown in - because let's face it, Chartreuse makes everything taste better.”
